Hypertension Resources For Patients

PAGE UNDER CONSTRUCTION

High blood pressure, also known as hypertension, means your blood pressure is consistently too high and means that your heart has to work harder to pump blood around your body.  High Blood pressure isn’t usually something that you feel or notice, and it usually has no symptoms.

If it is not treated it significantly increases the risk of having a heart attack or stroke. High blood pressure can also increase the risk of cognitive decline, Alzheimer’s and Dementia in later life. Hypertension is a very common condition and an estimated 5.5 million people have undiagnosed hypertension across the country. There are 150,000 people in the Bedford, Luton and Milton Keynes region with diagnosed hypertension.
